Terms & Conditions

1. General Agreement These Terms and Conditions apply to all services, estimates, and construction projects provided by Honeycomb Deck Builders (“we,” “us,” or “the Company”) to the client (“you” or “the Homeowner”). By accepting our estimate and paying the initial deposit, you agree to these terms. Honeycomb Deck Builders operates under Washington State Trade License Number HONEYC*801P9.

2. Estimates and Scope of Work All estimates provided are valid for 30 days. The estimate covers only the specific scope of work detailed in the written proposal. If you request changes, additions, or upgrades during the project (a “Change Order”), these will be priced separately and must be approved in writing before the additional work begins.

3. Hidden Conditions and Structural Rot When replacing an existing deck or tying a new structure into an existing home, we may uncover hidden damage, including but not limited to dry rot, water damage to the home’s ledger area, or substandard existing framing. Our estimates do not cover the cost of repairing pre-existing structural damage or rot. If we discover these issues, work in that area will pause, and we will provide a separate estimate to repair the damage safely and up to Washington State building code before deck construction resumes.

4. Permitting and Zoning Honeycomb Deck Builders will assist in identifying necessary permits for your project. Where required by local jurisdictions (such as the City of Renton or King County), we will pull the necessary building permits. The cost of the permit fees is the responsibility of the Homeowner and will be included in the estimate or billed directly. The Homeowner is solely responsible for ensuring the project complies with any local Homeowner Association (HOA) rules or property line easements.

5. Payment Terms and Schedule Unless otherwise specified in your specific project contract, our standard payment schedule is as follows:

Late payments may be subject to a late fee of 1.5% per month. The Company retains the right to file a mechanics lien against the property for unpaid balances in accordance with Washington State law.

6. Project Delays and Weather Deck building in the Pacific Northwest is highly dependent on weather. While we strive to meet all estimated timelines, we are not liable for delays caused by heavy rain, extreme weather, supply chain material shortages, delayed local city inspections, or other circumstances beyond our control.

7. Materials and Natural Variances If your project includes natural wood products (such as pressure-treated pine or cedar), you understand that wood is a natural material that will shrink, warp, check (crack), and change color over time due to weather exposure. These natural occurrences are not considered defects in workmanship. If using composite materials, warranty claims regarding fading or material defects must be directed to the manufacturer (e.g., Trex) under their specific product warranty.

8. Worksite Access and Safety The Homeowner agrees to provide clear access to the worksite, including a power source and access to a water spigot if necessary. During construction, the worksite is a hazardous area. The Homeowner agrees to keep children, pets, and unauthorized individuals away from the immediate work area, tools, and material stacks until the project is officially completed.

9. Warranty on Workmanship Honeycomb Deck Builders takes pride in our trade. We provide a [Insert your standard warranty, e.g., One-Year / Two-Year] limited warranty on our installation workmanship, covering structural integrity and proper installation. This warranty does not cover damage caused by lack of maintenance, severe weather, natural disasters, or normal wear and tear. Material warranties are provided directly by the material manufacturers.

10. Governing Law These terms and any contracts entered into with Honeycomb Deck Builders shall be governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any disputes shall be resolved in King County, Washington.
